FFA Clearing Through NOS

The International Maritime Exchange offers you FFA clearing services that help reduce credit risk and exposure on future and options contracts through NOS Clearing ASA.

NOS Clearing ASA is a Norwegian futures clearing and options clearing house, it was founded in 1987 and is a fully owned subsidiary of Imarex ASA. The clearing house operates under a license from the Norwegian Ministry of Finance and is also approved by the American Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to carry out clearing of trades on Imarex.

NOS Clearing ASA offers multi-product clearing services, its strategic objective is to provide services to end clients and their intermediaries, so that these can reduce the risk and exposure of their contracts and thereby improve profitability when conducting financial transactions.

NOS Clearing ASA acts as a central counterparty between the buyer and the seller of FFA contracts and guarantees settlement of these. Thus, it acts as the seller versus the buyer and the buyer versus the seller.The clearing house covers its obligations by collecting collateral (a margin) from the buyer and the seller, respectively.

To do cleared trades through the International Maritime Exchange, either through the screen or through one of our market place brokers, you will be required to become a Direct Member of Imarex and NOS Clearing. Today there are over 210 direct members who benefit greatly of our FFA clearing services.

Alternatively to becoming a Direct Member, you have the option of clearing through one of our General Clearing Members (GCM).
